What Elevator Modernization
Actually Means
Modernization is the planned replacement of the ageing, obsolete or unsafe parts of a lift while retaining the structural components that are still in good condition — typically the guide rails, the car sling and the shaft itself. The goal is to bring an older installation up to current safety, performance and energy standards without the cost and disruption of tearing everything out.
There are two broad approaches, and part of our job is helping you choose honestly between them:
Partial Modernization
Upgrading specific systems that are causing problems — the controller, the drive or the door operator. The right call when the mechanical structure is healthy but the electronics or ride quality have fallen behind.
Full Modernization
Replacing nearly everything above the rails: control system, drive, motor or hydraulic power unit, doors, fixtures and cabin. Suits lifts 20–25 years old or older, no longer compliant, or beyond economical repair.

Signs it's time to
modernize your lift
You don’t need to wait for a breakdown. Talk to us if your elevator shows any of these.
Frequent breakdowns
Rising repair costs that never quite fix the underlying problem.
Obsolete parts
Discontinued components mean long waits or improvised repairs.
Poor levelling
The car stops above or below the floor — a trip hazard.
Long waits & rough rides
Slow travel times or a jerky, noisy ride that unsettles passengers.
High electricity use
An old motor and inefficient controls driving up bills.
Safety non-compliance
The lift predates current codes and lacks required features.
Age
Most systems installed before the early 2000s are strong candidates.
Built for Lebanon's
realities
Modernizing a lift in Beirut is not the same as modernizing one in a city with stable mains power. Frequent outages and the switch between mains and generator supply are hard on older elevators and a common reason a car stops between floors with people inside.
This is where our local experience shows. We specify controllers and drives that ride through supply interruptions cleanly, and we fit devices that gently move the car to the nearest floor and open the doors during a power cut, so passengers are never left waiting for the generator to catch up. These are the details a company that only reads the spec sheets tends to miss and the details that matter most to the people living and working in the building.
ARD Automatic
Rescue Device
On a power cut, the car travels to the nearest floor and opens its doors automatically — no one stays trapped waiting for the generator.
No one is left behind.
How our modernization
projects work
We keep the process transparent from the first visit to the final handover.
Free site
inspection
An engineer surveys the lift, reviews its history, and identifies which components are causing problems and which are still sound.
Assessment
and options
You receive a clear picture of the lift’s condition and a straightforward recommendation — partial or full modernization — with the reasoning behind it.
Proposal
A detailed scope and quotation, with no pressure to over-specify work you don’t need.
Scheduled works
We plan around your building to keep downtime short. Because our spares are stocked in Beirut, we’re not waiting weeks on shipments mid-project.

commissioning
Every upgraded system is tested thoroughly before the lift returns to service.
